One Night Stand is an annual pay-per-view event produced by World Wrestling Entertainment. For the first two years the event featured wrestlers from the former Extreme Championship Wrestling promotion, whose holdings WWE purchased in bankruptcy court, and was promoted under the ECW initials. The 2005 show was a tribute show to the original ECW, with all the match participants being ECW alumni including those who were not under contract with WWE at the time. The 2006 edition, however, marked the kickoff to WWE's new ECWbrand. The 2007 edition will be the first one since ECW was revised as a full time brand, but will also feature the RAW and SmackDown! brands. The change means the event will now be promoted under the WWE initials rather than ECW's.
In 2009, the event named was changed to Extreme Rules.
