Probably the worst SummerSlam I've read about. Solely my opinion, the only things that went right tonight at this event was Ziggler beating The Miz for the IC title as The Miz was doing little more than strutting around with that tarnished title on his shoulder. He wasn't a true defending champion as he ought to have been. I wasn't pleased to see Paige win the Diva's title. I suppose on RAW, AJ will "seriously" skip to the ring to demand a rematch for it.
It came as little surprise and a huge disappointment to learn that Rusev won his flag match against Jack Swagger. I'm not a huge Swagger fan but hell, Swagger's far better than Rusev! A terrible storyline between those two, with a lack-luster match stipulation to boot.
Stephanie's victory over Brie was no surprise. An unimpressive storyline to me, made more so by another heel winning. I had held hope tonight, a victory by Brie would have ended the rivalry. Not so...
Van Dam surprised me by pulling a victory out of Cesaro's backside, so I was remotely pleased. Cesaro seems to be drifting from one event to another, with no solid purpose. Perhaps 2014 will be his last year with WWE? We've already seen a host of talent released this summer. Anything can happen.
Bray Wyatt beating Jericho?? Why? Why should Jericho bother returning if he's meant only to be a jobber to the "new talent"?
I envision Roman Reigns beating the "RKO" out of Randal Keith Orton to win his match tonight. That was one of the few matches that went right in my opinion. WWE's clearly continuing to push him to higher things.
And it now it appears WWE's made the mistake of crowning a new world champion in the form of an unhealthy-looking, "part-time" performer named Brock Lesnar. Can he honestly wrestle full-time and defend his new titles or will we be subjected to watch him stand around while his mouthpiece Paul Heyman recaps all of his Very-Past exploits leading up to his wrestling blasphemy such as breaking 'Taker's WrestleMania streak and now winning the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, every time he appears on RAW or SmackDown? Ultimately, this SummerSlam--SummerSlam 2014, went to hell and was wrought with so many disappointing results. We'll see what the last 4 months yield in result of this event.
