The NWA World Tag Team Championship was defended as TNA's main tag team championship from June 19, 2002 to May 13, 2007.
On May 13, 2007 the National Wrestling Alliance severs ties with TNA and the TNA World Tag Team Championships are introduced.

1 May 13, 2007 Orlando, FL As a result of being the NWA Tag Team Champions at the time of the split, Team 3D are recognized as the first TNA World Tag Team Champions. 6
Samoa Joe
(held the titles by himself)
1 July 15, 2007 Orlando, FL Won the titles at Victory Road. Teamed with TNA Champion Kurt Angle in a match where Angle's TNA World Heavyweight Championship, Joe's TNA X Division Championship, and Team 3D's tag team championships were on the line, and if either Joe or Angle made the pinfall they would get all the titles by themselves. Joe pinned Brother Ray to win the titles. 1

1 August 12, 2007 Orlando, FL This was a "winner take all" match at Hard Justice that saw TNA and IWGP Champion Angle win the Tag and X Division Championship from Samoa Joe. TNA considers the period Angle held the belts by himself and the reign with Sting as one continuous reign. 0

Eric Young
& Kaz
1 April 15, 2008 Orlando, FL Won the titles on the April 17, 2008 edition of Impact! in a match also involving The Latin American Exchange. Midway through the match Young leaves the ringside area and later returns under his Super Eric disguise and he and Kaz win the titles, resulting in Styles and Tomko complaining to TNA Management Director Jim Cornette that they were not defeated by their advertised opponents and they should be given the titles back. Cornette gives Young the choice to admit he's Super Eric or he and Kaz will be stripped of the titles. When Young refuses to do so Cornette vacates the championship. According to official TNA History, Kaz & Eric Young's win is not recognized and it was Styles and Tomko who were stripped of the titles due to the controversy. 0
