Eldon Lee Whittler (July 7, 1935 – January 2001), known by his stage name Smasher Sloan, was an American professional wrestler who wrestled for the World Wide Wrestling Federation (WWWF) in the 1960s and early 1970s.

Professional wrestling career

Born July 7, 1935, Sloan was the son of professional wrestler Eldon “Whitey” Whittler.

Sloan made his debut in WWWF in 1964 in the Northeast region. Sloan's gimmick was a tough guy from Montana. He feuded with Bruno Sammartino and Arnold Skaaland. He won many squash matches against jobbers. In 1966, Sloan teamed up with Baron Mikel Scicluna to win the WWWF United States Tag Team Titles, winning over Tony Parisi and Johnny Valentine, when Valentine turned on his own partner. Valentine caused Parisi to fall out of the ring over the rop ropes; and then threw the belts to Scicluna and Sloan. Scicluna and Sloan ultimately lost the belts on Washington DC TV to Parisi and Spyros Arion. By 1968 Sloan left the WWWF and went to Dallas, Texas. He teamed up with the Spoiler Don Jardine as the Spoilers. The team was managed Gary Hart. The Spoilers won the NWA American Tag Titles defeating Fritz Von Erich and Billy Red Lyons. He also fought in WCCW and Florida. In 1971 he competed as the Beast. Bobby Duncum would unmasked him. In 1972,he returned to the WWWF, this time with no success and didn`t last long. He did have one Madison Square Garden co-feature match, being pinned by Bruno Sammartino. In July 1994, Sloan reunited with the Spoiler in a tag team losing to Terry Garvin and GI Joe at Tim Horner`s National Championship Wrestling.

He died in January 2001 at the age of 65.
