The October 21, 1978 Edition of WWWF Championship Wrestling is a Professional wrestling television show of the World Wide Wrestling Federation, which took place October 10, 1978 at the Philadelphia Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

This episode featured "High Chief" Peter Maivia making his heel turn and betraying WWWF World Heavyweight Champion Bob Backlund, with whom he had an on-screen friendship, so that he could face Backlund for the title. The match in which Maivia turned was a tag-team match pitting him and Backlund against the heel team of Spiros Arion and Victor Rivera. Throughout the match, Maivia was visibly frustrated and only would stay in the ring for brief periods of time and making Backlund wrestle most of the match. After beginning to argue with manager Arnold Skaaland, Maivia brutally attacked Skaaland, before he led a triple-team attack of Backlund. After a run-in by several face wrestlers, Backlund -- trying to make sense of what happened -- screamed, "What happened?" and vowed that he would "kill than son of a bitch" (Maivia).

Numbers in parentheses indicate the length of the match.
(c) refers to the champion(s) heading into the match.
