MNM was a stable in World Wrestling Entertainment that consisted of Joey Mercury (previously Joey Matthews), Johnny Nitro, and manager/valet Melina Perez. Though they broke up and reunited on one occasion, while together Mercury and Nitro were three time WWE Tag Team Champions and Melina was a one time WWE Women's Champion. They have, at certain points been joined by other members, Mark Henry, Mick Foley and Jillian Hall, however Nitro, Mercury and Melina remained the only constant members.

Their gimmick was that of a trio of Hollywood celebrities, complete with a red carpet ring entrance, that had them accompanied by "paparazzi". Their group name was derived from the first letter of Mercury and Nitro's last names, along with the first letter of Melina's first: Melina Nitro Mercury.

History[]

Formation and Ohio Valley Wrestling (2004-2005)[]

MNM was formed after Johnny Nitro's real girlfriend, Melina Perez, was brought into Ohio Valley Wrestling as an ally of Matt Cappotelli, who was feuding with Nitro. Perez quickly turned on Cappotelli, joining forces with Nitro, and together they brought in Joey Matthews to complete the trio. MNM made their in-ring debut on the April 17, 2004 episode of OVW, defeating Matt Cappotelli & Maven. MNM won their first title on the November 13, 2004 episode of OVW, after defeating Mac Johnson & Seth Skyfire to win the OVW Southern Tag Team Championship. MNM made their first WWE appearance on the November 20, 2004 episode of Velocity, being defeated in a dark match by Johnny Jeter & Matt Cappotelli.

After retaining the OVW Southern Tag Team Championship against the former champions, Mac Johnson & Seth Skyfire, MNM lost their title on the January 22, 2005 episode of OVW, to Johnny Jeter & Matt Cappotelli, ending MNM's 67 day reign.

SmackDown! (2005-2006)[]

After making multiple appearances at SmackDown house shows and defeating Mac Johnson & Seth Skyfire in a Grudge Match on the April 16, 2005 episode of OVW, MNM were finally called up to SmackDown. With Joey Matthews having his name changed to Joey Mercury, the trio made their debut on the April 14, 2005 episode of SmackDown, interrupting WWE Tag Team Champions Eddie Guerrero & Rey Mysterio during their interview with Carlito. On the April 21, 2005 episode of SmackDown, in MNM's debut match, Nitro & Mercury defeated Eddie Guerrero & Rey Mysterio after a distraction from Melina to win the WWE Tag Team Championship.

The new champions defended their title on SmackDown and Velocity against a variety of opposition, which included former champions Eddie Guerrero & Rey Mysterio. During MNM's reign, Melina began publicly berating Heidenreich, leading to Nitro & Mercury being booked to face Heidenreich in a handicap match on the July 14, 2005 episode of SmackDown. However, the pair attacked Heidenreich before the match but Road Warrior Animal saved Heidenreich, setting up a match for the WWE Tag Team Championship at The Great American Bash 2005. At the Bash, Heidenreich and Animal defeated the champions, ending MNM's 97 day reign.

After losing the WWE Tag Team Championship, Melina was able to recruit Jillian Hall to restore the prestige of MNM. After two unsuccessful attempts to win the Tag Team Championship back on the September 9, 2005 and the September 16, 2005 episodes of SmackDown, MNM won a Four Way Match on the October 28, 2005 episode of SmackDown to win the title back. MNM successfully defended the championship against Batista & Eddie Guerrero on the November 4, 2005 episode of SmackDown, before suffering a loss to Kane & The Big Show on the Eddie Guerrero Tribute episode of Raw.

MNM soon began a feud with the Mexicools (Psicosis & Super Crazy) after the Mexicools won a #1 Contendership Battle Royal to face the champions at Armageddon 2005. However, two days before Armageddon on the December 16, 2005 episode of SmackDown, Batista & Rey Mysterio ended MNM's 49 day reign. At Armageddon, The Mexicools faced MNM in a losing effort. On the December 30, 2005 episode of SmackDown, Melina accused Batista of sexually harassing her before the match where MNM lost the WWE Tag Team Championship. Later in the night, MNM used their rematch clause to face champions Batista and Rey Mysterio, in a match MNM won after an interference from Mark Henry.

To begin their third reign as WWE Tag Team Champions, MNM defeated Batista & Rey Mysterio in a Steel Cage Match after Mark Henry ripped off the cage door on the January 6, 2006 episode of SmackDown. After defending the title against The Mexicools, Matt Hardy & Tatanka, and Matt Hardy & Road Warrior Animal, MNM found themselves unable to best Brian Kendrick & Paul London in non-title matches. MNM were defeated by Kendrick & London at Judgment Day 2006, ending their 145 day reign. The former champions began brawling, and, later in the night, after Melina slapped Theodore Long, Long fired Nitro & Melina to break up the team.
