Metehan Kocabaşoğlu (March 4, 1993) is a German professional wrestler of Turkish descent previously signed to World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) on the NXT UK brand under the ring name Teoman.
Career[]
Early career[]
Kocabaşoğlu originally chased becoming an association football player, however, after a knee injury, he was unable to sign a developmental deal. After being told about professional wrestling by his friend, Kocabaşoğlu began training with the German Wrestling Federation (GWF), making his debut on June 28, 2008, under the ring name of Lucky Kid in a Triple Threat Match. After wrestling in various German independent promotions, Lucky Kid would form a tag team with Cem Kaplan in German Stampede Wrestling (GSW) before forming a team with Tarkan Aslan. Lucky Kid & Aslan would win a number of tag team championships together.
Westside Xtreme Wrestling (2015-2021)[]
Lucky Kid & Tarkan Aslan began making appearances in Westside Xtreme Wrestling (wXw) in 2015 and after a two year hiatus from the company, Kid & Aslan won the WXw World Tag Team Championship from Absolute Andy & Marius Al-Ani. After winning the championship, Kid & Aslan would join RISE. In October 2017, Kid & Aslan were stripped of the championship after the pair failed to reach the final of the World Tag Team League. Kid & Aslan would have opportunities to win back the wXw World Tag Team Championship from Ringkampf (Timothy Thatcher & WALTER) however, they were unsuccessful. Lucky Kid qualified for the 2018 16 Carat Gold Tournament after defeating Ivan Kiev, but was eliminated in the quarter-final by Timothy Thatcher.
In August, Tarkan Aslan turned on Lucky Kid, leaving Kid devastated in the ring. Lucky Kid competed in the 2019 16 Carat Gold Tournament, making his way to the final after wins over Timothy Thatcher, Axel Dieter Jr., and Ilja Dragunov, before defeating WALTER in the final. After continuing to wrestle in wXw, along with appearances in other promotions such as Ring of Honor (ROH) and PROGRESS Wrestling, Lucky Kid began to wrestle as Metehan after he was eliminated by Jurn Simmons in the 2020 16 Carat Gold Tournament. Metehan would also form EZEL with Abdul Kenan & Aytac Bahar. Metehan would explain that his personality change was in order for him to support his family and sick mother. After defeating Avalanche in the semi final, Metehan defeated Hektor in a tournament final to win the vacant WXw Shotgun Championship. During Metehan's reign as champion, multiple opponents including Avalanche and Killer Kelly were able to receive a championship opportunity from Metehan after insulting his mother, however, Metehan would quickly defeat both of them.
Following Metehan's unsuccessful attempt to reach the final of the 2020 Catch Grand Prix, Metehan would lose the wXw Shotgun Championship to Norman Harras, a match with the stipulation that the loser would be fined €5,000 after Harras had hacked Absolute Andy's tablet to receive the championship opportunity.
World Wrestling Entertainment (2021-2022)[]
NXT UK (2021-2022)[]
On January 29, 2021, World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) announced that Kocabaşoğlu, along with various other wrestlers, had signed with WWE and would begin competing on NXT UK. On the March 4, 2021 episode of NXT UK, it was announced via vignette that Kocabaşoğlu would be competing under the name Teoman. Teoman made his debut the next week, defeating Danny Jones. Teoman defeated Rohan Raja on the April 29, 2021 episode of NXT UK, and following Teoman's victory over Oliver Carter on the June 24, 2021 episode of NXT UK, Rohan Raja returned to assist Teoman in attacking Carter. Teoman would partner with Raja to defeat Oliver Carter & Ashton Smith on the July 15, 2021 episode of NXT UK.
In September, Teoman entered into a tournament for an opportunity at the NXT UK Heritage Cup Championship. After defeating Nathan Frazer in the first round, Teoman was eliminated by Wolfgang in the semi final. Teoman & Raja would begin feuding with Gallus (Mark Coffey, Joe Coffey & Wolfgang), with Teoman & Raja defeating Mark Coffey & Wolfgang on the November 18, 2021 episode of NXT UK after a distraction from Charlie Dempsey. Rohan Raja & Teoman attempted to earn an NXT UK Tag Team Championship opportunity on the January 13, 2022 episode of NXT UK, but were defeated by Jack Starz & Dave Mastiff after Gallus prevented an interference from Charlie Dempsey. On the January 27, 2022 episode of NXT UK, Teoman, Dempsey, & Raja, now called Die Familie, defeated Gallus in a Six Man Tag Team Match.
