Leo Nomellini was the third to hold the NWA World Heavyweight Championship. He won it in San Franciso on March 22, 1955, ending Lou Thesz's 1941 day (5+ year) reign.
The title was disputed because he won it via count-out and disqualification. Thesz beat him on July 15 the same year to end the dispute.
