George South (September 7, 1962) is an American professional wrestler, author and trainer.

Career[]

Wrestling for over 30 years, South has appeared for various American promotions including Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling (MACW), National Wrestling Alliance (NWA), Pro Wrestling Federation (PWF), World Championship Wrestling (WCW) and the World Wrestling Federation (WWF).

George is best known for his many appearances on Jim Crockett Promotions television shows.

George also won the NWA Georgia Junior Heavyweight Championship and had successful stay in the Central States in a "Miami Vice" themed tag team with Rocky King.

In the 1990s George stayed in his home area, wrestling for the Pro Wrestling Federation (owned by Gary Sabaugh, Smoky Mountain Wrestling and Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling.

Masks[]

George South wrestled under four different masks in his career. Three teaming with Gary Royal as the Gladiators (who lost in a major upset to Bill Mulkey and Randy Mulkey, losing their spot in the Jim Crockett Memorial Cup tournament), as one of the Cruel Connection and as the Masked Twin Devils.

The fourth is a labor of love, Mr. Florida, a tribute to his boyhood hero, Paul Jones who wrestled as the original Mr. Florida in the 1970s.

South owned and operated the Exodus Wrestling Alliance (EWA) from 2004 to 2015.

Personal life[]

George South is the father of wrestler George South, Jr.. George also hosts his own video podcast and wrote the book Dad you don't work, you wrestle.
