Jim Ross & Paul Heyman were a commentator team in WWE in 2001, as well as a brief stint in Jim Crockett Promotions in the late 1980s. Ross and Heyman also provided commentary during a live episode of WWE SmackDown after the 9/11 tragedy on September 13, 2001.

History[]

After Jerry Lawler left the WWE in 2001, Paul Heyman replaced him as lead color commentator alongside Jim Ross.

Heyman portrayed an impartial commentator until The Invasion storyline went into full swing following WWE's purchase of World Championship Wrestling, where upon he became a heel commentator, favoring the WCW/ECW Alliance members.

Heyman would eventually be "fired" for supporting the Alliance the night after the 2001 Survivor Series and would be replaced by the returning Jerry Lawler.
