The August 8, 1999 Edition of Heat is a Professional wrestling television show of the WWE, which took place at the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, Michigan. It was broadcast live on August 8, 1999.

Recap[]

The show opens with Val Venis coming to the ring. He has a microphone and compares his love-making ability to a Republican tax cut. His opponent is current WWF European Championship and WWF Intercontinental Championship holder D'Lo Brown but only the Intercontinental Championship is being defended. Before the match officially starts Jeff Jarrett and Debra come to the ring, distracting Brown and allowing Venis to attack and get the advantage. Jarrett sat on commentary and promised to regain the Intercontinental Championship and blamed Debra for having lost it for him. When Venis looked to be going for a finishing move, Jarrett jumped in the ring and attacked Venis to make sure Brown retained. After the match, both Venis and Brown attack Jarrett until he quickly bails out.

It's announced that Kane has chosen Road Dogg to be his tag team partner in a title shot against the Acolytes. They are shown backstage having a conversation.

Al Snow enters the ring with his chihuahua Pepper for an interview with Kevin Kelly. Snow insists that Pepper talks to him and lists several examples of people communicating with dogs in fiction. Snow says he's the crown prince of hardcore and promises to regain the WWF Hardcore Championship at SummerSlam 1999. This brings out Big Bossman who promises that he will defeat Snow again and threatens to kill Pepper in a variety of gruesome ways.

The Acolytes are shown backstage. They decide there's no point in even bringing out the WWF World Tag Team Championship belts.

Tori takes on Lexie Fyfe in preparation for taking on Ivory at SummerSlam. Fyfe gets a little bit of offence, but Tori gets the eventual victory with a powerslam. After the match, Ivory attacks Tori with the WWF Women's Championship and names on Tori's skin with body paint.

The Road Dogg comes out to introduce himself and his partner Kane, but before Kane comes out, the Acolytes attack and take out the Road Dogg. Kane takes on both Acolytes single-handedly, but Bob Holly shows up and ineffectually attacks Kane, then the Acolytes. The Acolytes dispatch him with a spike powerbomb. At some point, the ref throws out the match as a no contest.

We get a shot of the backstage area as The Undertaker and The Big Show are watching the match on a monitor. It seems like Show wants to assist, but Undertaker holds him back.

To celebrate Lawrence Taylor entering the NFL Hall of Fame, they will replay his WrestleMania XI match against Bam Bam Bigelow after the show.

Elsewhere backstage, Meat tries to tell Terri Runnels that he's exhausted. Terri serves him a cranberry juice spiked with a Viagra and tells him to get ready for his match.

Before his match, The Godfather tells Albert that he's beaten him too many times and calls out the mysterious man in white. The man in white attacks him, which causes Albert and Droz to join in on attacking The Godfather. Val Venis and Chaz make the save as referees come out to try to pull everyone apart. The match never happens.

Backstage, Al Snow talks to Pepper into being hardcore. He leaves Pepper to go get a table.

Meat confronts Terri and tells her that he can't go out "like that".

Returning to Al Snow, he's holding Pepper and talking to The Blue Meanie. Meanie mocks the dog and Snow attacks him.

WWF Hardcore Champion Big Bossman faces off against Meat in a non-title match. Meat is unable to wrestle well as he is very tired and eventually Bossman pins him after a powerbomb. Post-match, Bossman hits Meat with his nightstick.

The Rock joins the commentary team to trash talk Mr. Ass and just about everyone else.

The Undertaker faced off against Mr. Ass. When Undertaker had control, The Rock started to attack Mr. Ass, but The Big Show and Paul Bearer stopped him from causing a disqualification. Undertaker got the win after a Tombstone piledriver and afterwards Show brought Rock down with a chokeslam.
