- Capitol Wrestling, the predecessor of the present-day World Wrestling Entertainment, is formed by Vince McMahon, Sr.
- The Madison Wrestling Club is formed in Winnipeg, Manitoba as an independent-level competitor to the NWA-affiliated Alex Turk Promotions. Future stars who got their starts with Madison include Stan Mykietowich (Moose Morowski), Bob Brown, Al Tomko, Gabby Hayes (Gil Hayes), Orest Antonation (Bill Cody), Arnold Pastrick and Lorne Corlett (the latter two of which went on to fame as the German-gimmicked tag team of Kurt and Karl Von Steiger)
- Hollywood Wrestling, with matches originating from Los Angeles, is syndicated to at least three dozen stations across the United States.
